GeoZora ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our users in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of the Republic of Ghana. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal data when you use our Platform.

2. The Data We Collect

We collect and process the following categories of personal data:

2.1. Information You Provide Voluntarily:

  • Account Data: Full name, email address, phone number, and physical address.
  • Profile Data: Profile photographs, occupation, and identification documents where verification is required.
  • Property Listing Data: Property addresses, photographs, descriptions, asking prices, and documentation related to title and ownership.
  • Communication Data: Messages, inquiries, and correspondence with other users or with GeoZora.
  • Financial Data: Payment card details, bank account information, and Mobile Money account details (processed by our third-party payment processors).

2.2. Information Collected Automatically:

  • Device Data: IP address, device type, operating system, and browser type.
  • Usage Data: Pages viewed, search queries, listing interactions, time spent on the Platform, clickstream data, and location data.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: As described in our Cookie Policy (Section 10).

3. Lawful Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on the following lawful grounds as defined by Act 843:

  • Consent: Where you have given explicit consent for specific processing purposes.
  • Contractual Necessity: Processing necessary for the performance of our contract with you.
  • Legitimate Interests: Processing necessary for our legitimate business interests, provided your rights and freedoms are not overridden.
  • Legal Obligation: Processing required to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

4. Purposes of Processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To create, maintain, and manage user accounts
  • To facilitate property searches and connect Property Seekers with Listing Agents
  • To display property listings and related content
  • To communicate with users regarding inquiries, transactions, and customer support
  • To process payments and subscriptions
  • To improve, personalize, and develop the Platform
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraudulent listings and activities
  • To comply with legal obligations, including disclosure to law enforcement and the Lands Commission
  • To send marketing communications, where consent has been provided

5. Data Retention

  • We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.
  • Account data is retained for the duration of your account's active status and for a period of six (6) years thereafter to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
  • Property listing data is retained for the duration the listing is active and archived for a period of three (3) years thereafter.
  • After the retention period, personal data will be securely deleted or anonymized.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your personal data with:

  • Other Users: Your name, contact information, and listing details are shared between Property Seekers and Listing Agents to facilitate transactions.
  • Service Providers: Third-party vendors who provide IT infrastructure, payment processing, cloud storage, and analytics services, all under strict data processing agreements.
  • Legal and Regulatory Authorities: Where required by law, including the Ghana Police Service, Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Lands Commission, and courts of competent jurisdiction.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, or acquisition, subject to confidentiality obligations.

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the following rights:
